This whole process was nowhere near easy. I started this project in the middle of quarantine so I had a lot of time to think but that also meant that some things took longer than usual. But nevertheless, I persisted. I decided to make the best of my time at home and put in a lot of hard work to make something like this possible! For those of you interested in my Gold Award process, here is my timeline of events!

Decided to complete my Gold Award
April 14, 2020 - Attended the Gold Award Webinar for the Girl Scouts of Connecticut (GSofCT)
April 16, 2020 - Decided on my project - the playground painting
April 21-23, - Project research & mapping and paint research
April 24, 2020 - Welcomed my favorite English teacher onto my team and welcomed the lead teacher of the elementary school as my project advisor
April 28, 2020 - Visited the school blacktop to remap everything out on my design and brainstorm.

May 1, 2020 - Started proposal planning for the Board of Education (BoE)
May 4, 2020 - Met with my English teacher on my team to learn how to effectively present my plan to the BoE
May 5-31 - Wrote MANY emails to people on my team and to my project advisor, got lots of feedback, did LOTS of planning and preparing
Proposal #1 of 3 presented - Approved

June 5, 2020 - Got onto the Board of Operations meeting agenda
June 24-25, 2020 - Lots of mock presentations with friends, troop leader, and family
June 26, 2020, 10 am- Board of Operations Proposal! Made it through to the full BoE in July
June 26-31, 2020 - Revising and taking suggestions to improve my project and proposal

July 22, 2020, 7 pm - Full Board of Education Proposal! Approved!
July 23, 2020 - Obtained Letter of Endorsement
July 24, 2020 - Submitted my Proposal to Girl Scouts of Connecticut on Go Gold!!!

August 11, 2020 - Approved by Girl Scouts!!!!!!
August 12-25 - Finalizing and ironing out painting plans.
August 26, 2020 - Bought all supplies. Paint, Rollers, Tape, Brushes, Sponges, Trays, Tarps, Everything.
August 28, 2020 - Painting day one!
August 30, 2020 - Painting day two!!
August 31, 2020 - Painting day three!!!
Filming, creating, implementing.
September 9, 2020 - Filming and editing game instruction video and blacktop tour video
September 11, 2020 - Final editing, created initial teacher survey for baseline data, sent email to principal for approval to send both things out.
September 15, 2020 - Video and teacher survey sent out to the Windermere Teachers
September 16, 2020 - Honor flag flew for this project at Ellington High School
September 19, 2020 - Additional clean up - cleaned up all borrowed supplies and wrote thank you cards.
September 20, 2020 - Left over unused material returns
September 24, 2020 - Survey 1 closes, averaged results
September 25, 2020 - Go Gold work, website work, created survey 2
Spreading the word, getting final data, submitting report
October 5, 2020 - Project appeared in the Journal Inquirer
October 10, 2020 - Sent out final teacher survey
October 11, 2020 - Worked on finalizing website details, collecting data, working on Go Gold, putting together game instruction book - reached 80 hours
October 16, 2020 - Finished instructions book, Go Gold AND website!!!
October 17, 2020 - Got project advisor approval and SUBMITTED Final Report to council!!!!!
Final Stretch
November 14, 2020 - Had final interview with council and became an official Gold Award Girl Scout!
