Four Square new and improved! There were originally 5 different Four Square courts on the blacktop. I decided to keep 3 of them and spruce them up by painting each square an alternating school color (dark green and dark blue) and then placed the schools mascot, Windy the Whale, in the 4th square where the game leader stands.
Shout out to Claire McMenamin for painting these AWESOME whales!
Up for some Ultimate Hopscotch? This epic hopscotch set up includes traditional hopscotch, follow the line, running, hopping, zig-zagging, the ABC's jump, log jump, spinning, and stomping! This is covering the old faded U.S. and World Maps to create a fun new activity that still promotes learning!
Using 1 of the 5 original Four Square courts, I have created a space for the student to play Copy Cat! The Copy Cat game is just as it sounds; you copy the game leader. This Copy Cat game is a Simon-Says, Twister-esque game that can keep kids entertained for hours as they come up with dances, think fast challenges, and whatever else they can imagine!
HORSE is an alternate game for when students don't want to play traditional basketball! This gives students the inspiration to pick up a game together if they already know it, or to even learn this new (but common) game! Around the World can also be played on the HORSE letters. I've also freshened up the basketball court lines with a new coat of paint!
This maze is a fun brain teaser that repurposes one of the former four square courts! It's the students' job to work their way through the maze without getting caught in a dead end!
The Compass emerges from a yellow basketball bucket that students use to make up their own ball games! This compass will aid in learning basic directions while also doubling as a fun addition to any games that students may make up around it!
