The team’s largest risk is losing an open line of communication with the Mitsubishi partner. Which would reduce our ability to produce that best meets the sponsor’s requirements. Additionally the results would be less accurate without their expertise and collaboration on the engineering specifications for the currently used system we are redesigning. To avoid this risk we sent weekly email updates to our sponsor, met with our sponsor and advisor bi-weekly, and kept up correspondence through email to get guidance as we came across any issues or inquiries. The other main, large risk is the sponsor requested that the modeling and simulation be done using eQUEST. This program is new to the team and team members had to become proficient with this program very quickly to keep the project on schedule. Our team’s software technicians mitigated this potential risk by doing independent research to teach themselves how the software works. Also they were put into contact with a Mitsubishi engineer with whom they discussed any questions they faced while operating eQUEST. Likewise we were also introduced to and asked to use Diamond System Builder for the first time. Which we accomplished with the help of our sponsor's guidance through any questions we encountered.
