The project design can be divided into multiple stages:
- Collecting data about the current state of the building and the HVAC system
- Building a 3D model (eQuest)
- Performing an energy analysis through simulation of various configurations of HVAC system (including the existing one) to estimate the heat load and systems performance (eQuest, see Appendix 2)
- Selecting a system based on the result of the simulations
- Perform a life-cycle cost analysis to assess the economic viability of the chosen system (see, )
- Layout the entire system using the Diamond System Builder to group components into centralized systems
- Create Construction Documents - map both the new and old system in the building blueprints
