2018-19
The big project for the 6th graders at Peterstown Middle School this year was to learn about their county. Monroe County is a rural, agricultural area of south eastern WV. The students were grouped into teams or "companies" with five students in each group. They chose an area of focus such as agriculture, natural resources, parks and recreation, arts and crafts, dining and lodging, healthcare, etc. They did research on what was available in Monroe County. They were able to take field trips to businesses, and guest speakers from the community visited the school. Each group created a digital product to inform others about these local businesses, parks, festivals, or other resources. Here are a few of the products that they created. They include fliers, brochures, commercials, and websites.
