This literature review explores the influence of Situated Learning Theory (SLT) on developing Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL) technologies. It highlights how SLT has informed the design of immersive, interactive CALL tools that foster authentic language use within meaningful, real-world contexts by promoting learner engagement, community-building, and experiential learning.
This was my first attempt at a literature review, and I found it particularly challenging! However, I learned how to quickly and efficiently assess research articles for relevance instead of attempting to read every word of every article. While I struggled with not turning the review into a research paper, I eventually got the hang of synthesizing information. In the future, I plan to use these skills to stay updated on recent research in the TESOL field.
