3a: Communicating With Students
Communicating expectations and directions with students is such an important aspect of instruction. I always make an effort to communicate the daily schedule with my students, or give them reminders of what is coming next. I found that having structure and routine will keep a steady environment. Delivering clear directions will also help the lesson/activity run smoothly. I usually have students repeat directions back to me to ensure that we are all on the same page for what is expected.
3d: Using Assessment in Instruction
I use assessment every day to drive instruction. Formative assessment is so useful for monitoring students learning during daily lessons. Whether it is just asking questions throughout the lesson, using exit tickets, or examining student work, I can make adjustments to my lessons as necessary based on how students show understanding.
