Digital Portfolio
Welcome to my digital portfolio, I hope to broadcast the progress of my learning and to become more proficient in Ed Tech. Throughout my e-portfolio, I will show the application and transformation of my learning and how I will use Ed Tech within my future classrooms.
About Me
My name is Emily Keats, and I am currently in my fifth year of the Concurrent Education program at Brock University! I hold an undergraduate degree in child and youth studies, which qualifies me to teach grades K-6. I have always connected with the littles and aspire to bring my goofy personality into the kindergarten classroom!
I have worked as a camp counsellor for the past two summers, leading a group of children aged 5-6. The picture on the right shows me holding an award for the music video of summer that my group won during our camp week-themed fame. During the school year, I work for an organization called The Boys and Girls Club and I am a daycare teacher for an after-school daycare program. I have enjoyed working with children at all of my jobs and have found it very beneficial to have been able to work with children of all ages.
I grew up very close to my family and value the relationship I have with my family. I have three siblings; two older brothers and a twin sister and am very close to each of my siblings. I loved growing up in a big family and it definitely helped to create the goofy personality I have as we were always having fun and joking around.
Staying Active
I love to stay active and stay busy! I love skiing, running, going to the gym and going for hikes. Staying physically active is very important for my mental and physical health and find it one of the most important times of my day as it sets up my day for success. I also hope to implement active living within my future classrooms in ways such as wellness breaks and DPA.
Travelling
I love travelling and getting to see the world and I hope within my summers to be able to travel to different destinations and teach English. When I was in grade 11 I had the opportunity to do a mission trip to Guatemala and it has inspired me to create change within the world by travelling and helping individuals in need.
Big Italian Meals
I am a big foodie and come from a big Italian family and I love to get together with my family and share a meal. I love my Italian culture and love to share what my Nonna and Nonno have taught me about Italy. The bigger the plate the better!
