Important
if any part of your person gear poles or inner tent touch the fly it can create a bridge between the non permable surface off the fly causing osmosis where water losses surface tension and moves through the tent.
also if your inner tent is touching the fly it could block ventilation and casue condensation on the inside of the tent.
A fly is a outer lyer of the tent. this protects the inner layer and the camper from wind rain hail, snow, sun and other wheather types. If a fly is put on properly no water should get inside the tent even in harsh conditions.
flys are not often water proof, however they are a non permeable membrane that helps water beads run off.
What
Guy ropes are to ensure stabilisation of your tent, this tension on the fly is so it sits comfortably on the tent poles and doesnt get impacted by wind
important
if there is not adequete tension your fly may touch the inner tent during wind causing osmosis.
what
Hold the poles, inner tent and guy lines on the fly in place.
Important
Pegs should be places in the ground at a 45 degree angle
Pegs should be pushed in carefully as to not bend them.
sometimes knocking them in gently is required in denser soils
What
Location in importamt and must be caculated prior to sett up
Important
At least 50m from water
On durable surfaces- firm flat ground
Away from nests, tracks or roads
look for perect location
unfold your tent
assemble tent poles
attach poles in the X locations
Attach the tent poles to the inner tent using the clips on the inner tent
Peg the inner tent and poles to the into the ground
take the fly and drape it over the inner tent/poles
make sure the doors are matching up
attach the fly to the corners of the poles and inner tent
pull guy lines tight and peg them into the ground
make sure that the fly and inner tent are not touching and ventilation can be ACHEIVED
Keep your door closed at all times, unless you're entering or leaving your tent
Why is it important to ensure the tent never touches the fly when it is set up?
This is so that when it rains the water doesnt roll of into the tent and instead it rolls off away from your tent.
What are the guy ropes used for?
The Guy ropes are to ensure your tent is stable, this tension on the fly is so it sits right on the tent poles and doesnt get impacted by wind
Describe the best way to put a peg into the ground.
When placing a peg into the ground to ensure that it is secure place the peg through the loop and place the bottom of peg toward the tent so it doesnt fly out.
Explain what you should do prior to setting up your tent in a campground.
Prior to setting up your tent you need to find flat ground and make sure that you are atleast 50 metres away from any natural water sources and track, make sure there is no animal wildlfie habitats around.
Explain the steps involved in putting our school tents up.
first ensure you have flat ground before unravelling, once you have found a flat spot unravel and take out peg and poles from the pouch, after you have unravelled the tent take the fly away and put aside, spread out the tent and grab the poles and connect them together and lock into place with the clips along lining of the tent and then place the smallest pole trough the pouches toward the top, then find the loops on each coner of the tent and place the peg in the ground with the pointed bit faced toward the tent to ensure the pegs wont fly out, after the tent base is secure grab the fly and align the fly door with the door of the actual tent, grab some more pegs and pull out the stretchy loops to stretch out the fly so if it rains water does not roll onto the tent once every loop is pulled out and secured with pegs make sure there is no outstanding mistakes.
