Person: My name is Emilio Villavicencio and I recently became a certified and licensed occupational therapist. I have always been interested in education and staying involved in extra curricular activities and community programs. I believe that every aspect of my life has impacted my decision to pursue this field. For example, in my last year of high school I took Anatomy and Physiology. I was so intrigued by the human body and how it functioned that I decided to explore it more and got my bachelors degree in Kinesiology. While attending college I volunteered to be apart of a research group and worked with individuals with traumatic brain and spinal cord injuries. The way each of them opened up to me, valued, and trusted my education and ability to help them, ignited my passion even more. After dedicating more hours volunteering and shadowing, the client-centered approach and holistic treatment solidified my decision to pursue occupational therapy at Dominican University of California in San Rafael (just 10 mins from San Francisco).
Environment: After finishing my last semester at Dominican University I completed my last fieldwork at Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center in Downey, CA. That brought me to Orange County where I plan to reside and start my OT career!
Occupation: Besides my passion for my profession and leadership, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, traveling, camping, hiking, scuba diving, photography, rock-climbing, volunteering, and cooking. I'll take any time outdoors that I can get but of course enjoy my days off lounging with a good book or movie every once in a while too!
