This class meets Asynchronously which means you meet on your own timeline, using the format TBA (which means "to be arranged" at a time that works best for you to meet me online on your own schedule with weekly class recordings). If you prefer to meet via Zoom, you might prefer signing up for a different Ticket # 11775, which offers a live class online, real-time on Tuesdays from 10-11:50 am. How long will it take me to complete activities each week?
You'll want to devote approximately 1-2 hours each week to show up to class!
The course will run for 16.6 weeks.
The class will help you to assess the physical and mental health processes of aging and stresses the importance of maintaining independence in daily activities. Topics include cognitive abilities, nutrition, diet, exercise, and disease/injury prevention as it relates to the older adult.
This is a HEALTH EDUCATION class. The movement emphasis of this class is Pilates.

Yoga Mat or Non-slip mat
Resistance (Stretchy) Bands (many students purchase their own bands from vendors like Amazon, Big 5, or Marshalls)
Optional: things in your home like a wall, bed/couch, common household items like a large towel or blanket
Grades and Attendance:
There are no grades given in this class. Our courses are provide free of charge because we receive funding from the state of California based on enrollment, positive attendance and interaction from our students. We take attendance by using logs in Canvas. If our students use Canvas to access and interact with the teacher by posting they participated in the lab, it helps the health of our program. We encourage you to log into Canvas regularly where the system automatically logs your attendance.
Interaction with discussions and lectures are highly encouraged and critical to the health of our program. We are positive attendance-based and not punitive. We want to make a difference in your life by walking alongside you, encouraging in your learning process!
