APPLICATION

Application Criteria

Participant numbers are limited and we anticipate a competitive application process, particularly given the generous funding situation. The organising committee will evaluate applications based on 1) the relevance of their proposed project to the workshop theme, 2) evidence of videographic skills, 3) the value of a collaborative community of practice to your development.

Eligibility

Participants must have some experience in making audiovisual essays. The workshop is an opportunity to further develop skills, methods and community. Participation is not limited to those working within the superstructure of academia: artist-scholars welcome.

Technical Arrangements for the In-Person Workshop at Bowdoin College

Participants will bring their own laptop with access to video editing software, and must be able to troubleshoot their own machine. We will provide everyone with a 27”/32” monitor to connect to their laptop. Participants are free to work in the video editing software of their choice, but the default for the workshop will be to use Adobe Premiere Pro. It is recommended that you have your Creative Cloud Suite updated to the latest version. Participants should also bring external storage devices, and make sure they have enough space to store their work without relying on Internet-based cloud storage.

Visas

We can provide a letter of invitation to participants who require one for travel visa applications. That said, we strongly advise participants to check entry and visa requirements to the US from their countries before making travel arrangements at least 3 months ahead of time. Please contact the embassy/consulate in your home country. Please bear in mind that although we can provide a letter, a letter of invitation does not guarantee you will obtain a visa.
