Why Should You Delete All Gmail Emails You No Longer Need?

Before we describe how to delete emails from Gmail, let's examine why you might wish to do so in the first place. Actually, there are two reasons why you should do this.

The first is that you may be overlooking something crucial. With a cluttered inbox, it may be challenging to keep track of everything precisely. It is simple to overlook something that turns out to be essential for business or to overlook a social gathering by accident. If you discover how to delete all Gmail emails, you will be able to stay on top of things and be lot more productive.

The second reason is that a cluttered inbox is simply stressful. We can spend months, or, let's be honest, years, watching our unread list fill up with messages we neglected to read, delete, and categorize. It is distracting, but the feeling of starting again after a thorough cleaning would be well worth it even without the productivity bump.

Launch Mail App.

Select Gmail under Mailboxes at the top of the screen.

Click Edit in the upper-right corner of the screen.

Click Select All in the upper-left corner of the window.

To dispose of all unwanted mailings, pick the Bin folder by clicking Move and then selecting the Bin folder.

How to Delete All Gmail Messages Using a Web Browser

Although there is no instruction on how to delete all Gmail messages at once through the Gmail mobile app, doing so through a web browser is much simpler.

If you are certain you want to delete all of your Gmail messages (i.e. All Mail), you can do it by taking the following steps:

Go to Gmail using your web browser and log in.

Scroll down on the left side of your inbox and click All Mail to view all of your Gmail messages. This includes messages from both your Primary inbox and any other category-specific boxes. (Note: you may first need to choose the More dropdown menu on the left to view All Email.)

Click the checkbox on the left, directly above all of your messages, within All Mail.

After selecting the checkbox, a notification stating "All discussions on this page are selected" will appear above your messages. Next to this in blue is a note that reads, "Select all discussions in All Mail." Select every message in your Gmail inbox by clicking this blue text.

Currently, click Delete (the trash can icon).

Because this is an irreversible bulk action, you will receive a message asking you to "confirm bulk action." Select Accept to proceed.

Once you select OK, all of your Gmail messages will be moved to the Trash folder. From here, you can access your trash to permanently erase messages. Remember that you will no longer be able to recollect these emails after taking this action.
