An Introduction
Elvis Bakaitis is a queer historian and comics/arts educator. An active board member of CLAGS: The Center for LGBTQ Studies, and a Coordinator at the Lesbian Herstory Archives, they are committed to bringing queer history to public audiences.
As a 2022 Visiting Scholar at the University of Victoria’s Transgender Archives, Bakaitis explored the philanthropic activism of Reed Erickson. Their research is additionally supported by grants from Harvard University, Duke University, Rockefeller Archive Center, and the American Library Association.
Their illustrations have appeared in publications such as Women's Studies Quarterly (WSQ), Sinister Wisdom, and the book "Queer Yoga" (2021, North Atlantic Books, distributed by Penguin Random House).
They've presented at:
