Description
Technology Project Plan for modernizing/updating classroom hardware in the RBS training department. The plan identifies the needs, as well as necessary resources, costs, communications, and development activities for implementing the proposed changes.
The goal of the plan was to determine appropriate technologies to acquire or upgrade the classroom hardware in the maintenance training facilities, and to assess the necessary support and development activities to effectively integrate those technology solutions into daily training activities for the site.
Rationale
This artifact demonstrates my ability to assess technology resources and processes to support River Bend Station training activities.
Alignment
Using - Candidates make professionally sound decisions in selecting appropriate processes and resources to provide optimal conditions for learning based on principles, theories, and effective practices
Managing - Candidates establish mechanisms for maintaining the technology infrastructure to improve learning and performance.
Description
In my experiential learning project from ELRC 7500, I synthesized a plan for technology transformation at my workplace. In this project, I focused my attention on the available technology and infrastructure in my facility, as well as the behaviors of leaders in my department. I identified several challenges within my organization, including accessibility / connectivity within our building, sustainable funding for upgrades or improvements, and underutilization of technology already available. I also identified some opportunities for expanding existing tech, and for professional development of the staff.
The action plan developed resulting from this experiential learning project focused on addressing the weaknesses and leveraging the opportunities that were identified through interviews with my peers and supervisors and several elements of the plan have already been put into place.
Rationale
This artifact demonstrates my ability to assess the learning environment and establish mechanisms for maintaining technology infrastructure.
Alignment
Managing - Candidates establish mechanisms for maintaining the technology infrastructure to improve learning and performance.
Description
Worked example utilizing Ohm's Law and the properties of a parallel circuit to calculate total resistance in a parallel circuit.
Rationale
This instructional design product is based on research-based best practices and learning principles.
Alignment
Creating - Candidates create instructional design products based on learning principles and research-based best practices
Diversity of Learners - Candidates foster a learning community that empowers learners with diverse backgrounds, characteristics, and abilities
Description
In this graphic organizer, created for ELRC 7535, I have identified key aspects of different approaches to learning theory, and have provided examples of how activities and assessments/evaluations might be performed using Connectivist, Cognitivist, Behaviorist, and Constructivist approaches.
Rationale
In this artifact, I identify multiple assessment strategies based on the theoretical approach to learning being applied. It uses research-based principles to identify when each approach is best applied and what the key characteristics are.
Alignment
Creating - Candidates create instructional design products based on learning principles and research-based best practices
Assessing / Evaluating - Candidates use multiple assessment strategies to collect data for informing decisions to improve instructional practice, learner outcomes, and the learning environment.
Description
For my practicum project in ELRC 7516, I developed a resource page for new instructors at my site who will need to quickly be able to develop learning materials and presentations. For this resource page, For this page, in addition to curating a list of useful resources, I created two web-based training modules: one based on implementing Richard Mayer's Cognitive Theory of Multimedia Learning, and another based on Robin Williams' fundamental design principles.
Rationale
In this practicum, I created multiple products centered on learning principles and research-based best practices. The processes and resources utilized appropriate resources to establish conditions for learning based on sound principles. These products were developed to encourage new instructors with diverse backgrounds to implement strategies quickly and efficiently.
