The Route

I drove from Pretoria to Ramsgate and spent some time in Ramsgate before heading North to Sodwana for one night. This made the trip from Sodwana to Tembe Elephant Park via Lake Sibaya short and easy as it takes about 90 minutes to drive from Tembe Reception to the Ponweni Camp Site.  This also allowed me to take the longer route to Ponweni that took me 2,5 hours and still allowed me to get to camp early to setup my camp.

I took a longer route back to Pretoria to avoid the poor road conditions and heavy trucks that make travelling slow and frustrating.  This also allowed me to spend an extra day to travel along more scenic gravel roads and see the beautiful hills and valleys of KwaZulu-Natal (KZN).  I slept over in Volksrust before heading back to Pretoria.
