Manungu Picnic site is located in the heart of the park and one of a number of picnic sites in Tembe.
On day 2 of the work week, a number of LROC members volunteered for this piece of work while the rest continued along the fence line.
Dave, an HO, dropped equipment off so that we could build the tension posts and then headed off to the workshop to get poles.
The objectives for the picnic site were:
1. Plant 4 x Mahogony Trees; and
2. Install 3 x tension posts on the elephant fence line.
Equipment needed for the Tension Posts
Megan had grown the four mahogany trees from seedlings and I transported them from the Camp in my Defender. Megan pointed out where the trees were to be planted, I dug the holes and the ladies planted the trees. I look forward to future visits to see how well they grow.

Dave and Rory, both HO's, were instrumental in showing us how to create tension posts that can withstand significant strain if pushed by an elephant. As we know, no fence is elephant proof.
