Unfortunately the stream I had originally chosen was dried up, had it not I think it would’ve scored higher on the habitat assessment than the 60% (128) the stream I chose in the end got, doubly unfortunate is that the second stream I looked at was also dried up.
Eventually, after around an hour of being sweaty and out of breath, I found that the neighbor’s stream had not dried up. Thankfully we get along and they let me use their’s.
Even their stream was a little dried up, so it wasn’t in the best condition, but it was better than the empty channels I had looked at previously.
Given we had large storms just a bit ago I’m a little confused at the fact that so many of the streams are gone or weakened, I really hope this one stays for at least the duration of the at home field work.
The neighbor’s stream had little fish and water skippers in it, which makes me hopeful that I can get something out of the riffles tomorrow.
