FAQs

FAQ's

Q: Is there going to be a limit to how many girls will be on the team this year?

A: We may have to limit the number on the team as we only have so much practice time and space with or without COVID restrictions. Minimum swim team qualifications are: (1) must know all 4 competitive strokes; (2) be able to do 50 yards of each without stopping. Contact the coach with any questions.

Q: When are the tryouts? When will we know if our daughter made the team? Do we need to order all the apparel, sports & booster fees? It is a lot to spend without knowing if our daughter will be able to join this year.

A: Tryouts will take place the first week of practice. Apparel order deadline will be after tryouts so there will not be a need to place an order if your daughter doesn't make the team. If you pay the booster fee, your booster fee will be refunded. The sports registration fee will also be refunded.

Q: When does practice start? How often is practice?

A: Practice starts on August 15th. Check the Google Calendar for times as they will alternate AM and PM.

Q: Should we sign up for Active now even if we aren't on the team yet?

A: Yes, this will insure you are included in all Active communications.

Q: What should the girls bring to practice?

A: Swim Practice: Swimsuit, a pre-filled water bottle, swim cap, goggles, & towel. Dryland Practice: dryland clothes & athletic shoes, & a pre-filled water bottle

Q: Could you explain more about the swim-a-thon?

A: The swim-a-thon is a new fundraiser, started in 2021, that replaces the corporate sponsorships. It will take place on Saturday, September 10, 2022 at Vandenberge Pool in lieu of a practice. The team will collect pledges and swim for about 2 hours. The boys swim & dive team has done this for a number of years.

Q: Who do I contact if my daughter is interested in joining the team?

A: Attend the Fall Sports Meeting held every year in August. For more information and dates, visit the Elk River High School athletic web page.

Q: How do I register?

A: For Elk River & Zimmerman District 728 High School students, register online at https://www.isd728.org/Page/2315. For Spectrum or Homeschool students, you will register manually at the Fall Sports Meeting night. Spectrum students should also submit registration online at https://www.spectrumhighschool.org/athletics to make Spectrum Athletic department aware of your athlete's participation.

Q: When does season start and end?

A: The girl's swim season starts mid-August and ends in early/ mid November with the Championship meet.

Q: When is sports registration due?

A: Registration must be in before girls can participate in practices.

Q: Do divers practice at same time?

A: Yes, unless otherwise noted on the Google Calendar.

Q: Do you need to be registered with school before you are on the Active account?

A: No. Sports registrations go to the ERHS Athletic Office and Active registration is specific to Elk River Girls Swim & Dive.
