Courageous Connections

I know I say this about each two-week-class, but AGAIN, I was blown away with the Courageous Connections class. The amount of resources we were given makes it incredibly easy to be connected to other classes, people, and the entire world! As a teacher, it is vital I connect my kids in order to show them they are a part of a larger picture. All too often, people believe we are different from one another, but truth be told, we are far more alike than different.

The final project dealing with the UN Sustainable Development Goals was a great way for me to introduce my rural students to global goals and how they play an important part in making sure we, as a society, reach those goals. I chose to focus on Goal #12 - Responsible Consumption and Production. I am so ashamed to admit my dependence on plastic. . . ugh. I thought by showing the kids my vulnerability, they would be more likely to share and come up with ideas how they can help, not only Mrs. Emslie, but the world, too!

The MEAT of the lesson is the HyperDoc at the end!
