Experimentally Informed Computational Materials Design Lab
Primary focus of the EICMD lab is micromechanical modeling of deformation behavior of different structural and technological alloys using inputs drawn from materials testing and characterization or lower length and time scale simulations. With the prediction of micromechanical behaviour of different materials, our lab aims to address the following two particular questions
How materials modeling can be instrumental in providing accurate solutions to the challenges related to optimum product design (Microstructure-Property Relationship)?
How simulations can be helpful in making informed decisions of the materials processing routes and parameters depending on the chosen metal or alloy system (Modeling Informed Manufacturing Processes)?
Experimentally informed materials modeling is an extremely valuable tool for the better understanding of deformation behavior of different materials in the varying test conditions which plays a vital role in
Further development of already existing engineering and technological metals and alloys (Solutions to Existing Materials Challenges).
Design and development of new high performance materials (Materials Innovation).
