Notes:
Do not use a 9 volt battery to power the Hummingbird at the barrel connector, use a 6 volt 4 AA battery source or the plug power supply that came with the kit. 9 volts will damage the Hummingbird.
Motors and servos are not powered by the USB power, you will have to apply power to the barrel connector.

If when you run the Arduino IDE (or there is no Arduino IDE), you can't find in the menu Tools/boards the “Hummingbird Duo”, or find in Tools the “Ardublock” selection, the Hummingbird software and drivers have not been installed on this computer. Do the following directions.
Select Duo, Mac (or PC), Arduino/Ardublock, Get Started in the above link.
The top left box in the next page, Switching Modes, is important.
The installed firmware new out of the box on the Hummingbird is not for Arduino.
The firmware program only needs to be run once.
When you run the firmware burner software, and the announcement screen states that the Hummingbird is in Arduino mode, you can just exit, the firmware has already been changed.
