A First Type Registered Energy Manager is an individual registered under the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Act 2024 [Act 861] who has met the required academic qualifications and relevant working experience. This category of REM may be appointed by energy consumers with annual energy consumption between 21,600 gigajoules (GJ) and 50,000 GJ.
The First Type REM plays a vital role in helping energy consumers comply with the Act by performing key functions such as collecting and analyzing energy data, supporting the implementation and monitoring of the Energy Management System (EnMS), preparing the Energy Efficiency and Conservation (EE&C) report, ensuring accuracy of reporting, and advising on energy-saving measures. Their duties are essential in ensuring energy performance improvements and ongoing compliance with regulatory requirements.
