Running from October 2025 through March 2026, the program targets seven United Nations SDGs through experiential workshops and online sessions designed in partnership with external institutions. Students will engage with SDGs 3 (Good Health and Wellbeing), 4 (Quality Education), 5 (Gender Equality), 10 (Reduced Inequalities), 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions), and 17 (Partnership for the Goals).
Program highlights include student-led SDG initiatives and study trips to Thailand, Japan, and Beijing - locations that exemplify sustainable development practices. The curriculum aims to move beyond traditional classroom learning, with students engaging directly with real-world sustainability challenges through authentic partnership experiences and activities.
The enthusiastic turnout for the orientation session exceeded the organizers’ expectations, with aspiring SDG Ambassadors eager to learn about the innovative university-wide initiative. The orientation was also graced by the presence of distinguished guests and co-investigators: Mr. Jesse Xiao, Dr. Suyan Pan, Ms. Florence Ng, and Dr. Jan Gube.
The project, led by Dr. Michelle W. T. Cheng and Dr. Norman Mendoza from the Department of Curriculum and Instruction (C&I), and Dr. Weiyan Xiong from the Department of Educational Policy and Leadership, is jointly funded by the Central Reserve Allocation Committee (CRAC) and C&I. The project is ably assisted by Miss Jelli Luzano and Miss Jenni Hong.
