Adolescents are developing in many ways socially and emotionally. Some milestones they should be hitting are:
Being able to identify their own emotions
being able to identify the emotions of family and friends
Getting better at managing their emotions (Gengler, 2023).
Educators can help adolescents' social/emotional development with different learning strategies. A couple that could help are:
Have students do a worksheet where there are a series of situations of people interacting, where emotion is involved. Have students write out how they think they would react in the situation and then how they should react in the situation.
Encourage group and partner work so students get chances to interact and work together. This encourages friendship and relationship building.
