ABOUT ME

Welcome! I’m a special education teacher with a unique journey that’s taken me from competing as an international professional athlete, to serving in law enforcement, to racing around the world on CBS’s The Amazing Race. While each chapter of my life has been incredible in its own right, they’ve all led me to discover my true calling: teaching and empowering students with special needs.

I believe every child has the ability to learn—and it’s the teacher’s mission to help unlock that potential. My approach is rooted in connection, encouragement, and high expectations, all aimed at helping students grow academically, socially, and emotionally.

Outside the classroom, I’m active in my community and passionate about coaching youth sports. I see athletics as an opportunity to teach lessons that matter for life—teamwork, perseverance, character, and sportsmanship.

Whether I’m on the field, in the classroom, or cheering from the sidelines, my goal is always the same: to inspire and support others on their path to success.

Philosophy of Teaching- Why I Teach

As a Special Education teacher, I am uniquely positioned to observe and implement differentiated instruction in meaningful ways. My role provides a powerful opportunity to influence how differentiation is effectively practiced to meet the diverse needs of all learners. Teaching in a self-contained Special Day Program classroom has afforded me the experience of leading a variety of classes, each with its own distinctive strengths and instructional approaches.

I believe that a teacher’s philosophy should be grounded in effectiveness, fairness, and authenticity. It must also be rooted in equity, ensuring that every student—regardless of ability—has the opportunity to learn, grow, and succeed. A strong educational philosophy reflects the teacher’s core values and beliefs about teaching and learning, guiding their practice and shaping the classroom environment.
