Dream Park
ND State Standard
3.GM.G.1 In two-dimensional shapes, identify lines, angles (right, acute, obtuse), and perpendicular and parallel lines.
Two dimensional shapes include quadrilaterals and right triangles.
Create a fantastic park filled with exciting shapes and angles! Use your imagination and geometry skills to design a fun and safe space for everyone.
Your Tools:
Ruler or straight edge
Graph paper (optional, but helpful for drawing straight lines)
Park Essentials: Your park must include these geometric features:
Intersections:
Two sidewalks crossing to create a wide angle (obtuse)
Two sidewalks crossing to create a sharp angle (acute)
Special Lines:
Two sidewalks running side-by-side without crossing (parallel)
Two sidewalks crossing at a perfect corner (perpendicular)
A long, straight sidewalk leading to the ice cream parlor
Shapeful Buildings:
Ice cream parlor shaped like a diamond (rhombus)
Swimming pool shaped like a rectangle
Hot dog stand shaped like a square
Two restrooms shaped like hexagons (shapes with six sides)
Merry-go-round shaped like a circle
Another fun play area shaped like a four-sided figure (quadrilateral) that’s not a diamond, rectangle, or square
Remember:
You can add more shapes, lines, and angles to make your park even more amazing!
Label your shapes and angles to keep track of what you've included.
Have fun and be creative! Your dream park awaits!
