AECT Standards

AECT 1.4 Candidates demonstrate the ability to effectively manage people, processes, physical infrastructures, and financial resources to achieve predetermined goals.

Justification:

• Plan clearly outlines role of teachers, staff members, administrators, and families in technology implementation
• Research justifies the necessity of providing online manipulative tools for student use
• Resources outlined are free online platforms, which would fit into any school budget

AECT 3.4 Candidates establish mechanisms (p. 190) for maintaining the technology infrastructure (p. 234) to improve learning and performance.

Justification:

• Formation of the Technology Team outlines responsibilities for maintaining current technology as well as expanding technology practice in school
• Research promotes benefits of digital manipulative use

AECT 4.2 Candidates lead their peers in designing and implementing technology-supported learning.

Justification:

• Room for teacher leaders to experiment and promote technology use
• Provides roles for all levels of comfort with technology, and encourages experimentation, implementation, and feedback
• Includes resources for immediate experimentation by providing examples of manipulative websites

AECT 4.5 Candidates demonstrate ethical behavior within the applicable cultural context during all aspects of their work and with respect for the diversity of learners in each setting.

Justification:

• Use of manipulatives promotes mathematical understanding to wide range of diverse learners
• Provides solutions for low socioeconomic families
• Encourages communication between school and families
• Graphics reflect diversity of race and gender neutrality to reflect modern concept of "family"
