Discussion and Conclusion
The online class that served as a venue to pilot test the first SLM module has been a success despite the issues that occurred before and during the session. The participants agreed that the class and module’s objectives were successfully achieved with elaborate discussion and relevant topics and examples to the Sangguniang Kabataan council as prominent factors that contributed to this achievement.
The satisfaction rate among the participants was also high in aspects like the teaching method, the module’s design, the module’ content, the module’s ease of use and accessibility, interactions, and alignment with the learners’ learning styles. Their highlights of the class also vary, pointing out different aspects of the class like the use of real-life scenarios, providing guidelines to apply the concepts in practical situations, the Padlet activities, and the discussion of project constraints.
Their least favorite part of the class is the late attendance of others as the meeting has to be pushed back. In the future, this issue should be immediately taken into account when listing the possible challenges that the project may face. This can help the proponents to prepare contingency plans.
On the other hand, the learners’ issues are mostly technical due to QR code scanning and an unstable Internet connection. In the future, QR code scanning can be switched to providing links instead to accommodate individuals who do not have/do not know how to use a scanner. Furthermore, other learning modalities may be considered as an alternative to synchronous online learning to accommodate learners who do not have a stable Internet connection. Although the learner analysis revealed that the participants had a stable connection, the stormy weather greatly affected their reception on the day of the online class. Perhaps checking the weather forecast on the day of your pilot testing should also be a factor to consider.
