PROJECT OVERVIEWS

WITHIN A 0.3 MILE RADIUS ON AMBOY AVENUE, 286 RESIDENTIAL UNITS PLUS AN UNKNOWN NUMBER OF COMMERCIAL UNITS ARE BEING PROPOSED.

For years, there have been attempts to make a Downtown Area in Edison. Below are various projects happening on Amboy to create that downtown area.

Jackson Ave

LEAD: Nikki Casado and Margaret Nawrot

SUMMARY:

There is a safety traffic issue at Hoover Middle School. Also for residents, there is an overflow of traffic. It is currently unknown how the new 220 unit development will add to this issue.

James MONROE

LEAD: Matt Gironda

SUMMARY:

There is a safety traffic issue at James Monroe Elementary School.

Matt and Principal Cynthia Tufaro have written a petition to resolve the situation by a introducing a new traffic flow.

Dr. Acella PROPERTY

(Across from Subway)

STATUS: APPROVED

Township required one building extending across the two lots. Instead Dr. Acella has received approval to keep his existing building and add a new tall 4-story building on the vacant lot which includes:

15 (1 bedroom) units
3 commercial units
30 parking spots

Stewart's Diner

(Across from Jade Dynasty)

STATUS: RESUBMIT PLAN

Initial submitted plan had two 3-story buildings across the two lots with:

14 (1 bedroom) units
5 commercial units
25 parking spots

Township has asked for a redesign to make only one building that is 4- stories which is built closer to the street.

Delta Gas station

(Across from Provident Bank)

STATUS: ONGOING

This was a possible location for a parking deck.

It is now being proposed as a 4-story building.

As of Sept 28, 2018, the design was for:

12 (1 bedroom)
23 (2 bedrooms)
2 (3 bedrooms)
37 parking spots in a garage
38 parking spots along Liddle Ave

Lady of Peace to be renamed St. Paul the Apostle Senior Housing

Being converted into a meditation/ restaurant.

POSSIBLE ISSUES:

It would appear that there may not be enough parking for residents/commercial properties during the day.
An increase of traffic will occur due to the increased population and commerce.
If Amboy Avenue becomes saturated with traffic, Grandview Avenue will be subjected to more traffic.
Possible flooding may occur along Amboy Avenue due to the soil being covered.
