We have a back room reserved for us from 7.30 at the Diggers and the session starts as soon as participants arrive. New faces are always welcome with age only restricted by the licensing laws. We are not a music class but regard ourselves as a social group where all levels of musical skill are accepted.
On a typical night, we would arrive at about 7:30 in the evening and somebody, anybody, would start up a tune set. We then proceed to go around each one in turn which gives everyone an opportunity to contribute some music to the evening. You can find our common sets under "The Music" heading of this site. The majority of the music is usually from Shetland but tunes from other traditions e.g Scottish, Scandinavian, American or Irish tunes are welcome.
From time to time we arrange for a visiting tutor to give a workshop. A small fee is charged to reimburse the tutor. A normal fiddle evening is free of charge.
The session usually finishes about 10.30 /11.00.
