Modified & Varsity
The Game Day division envelopes the game day experience but on the competition mat. In this order, routines will consist of a band dance, a situational sideline, a cheer, and your school's traditional fight song!
Game Day is our fall competition team. You will make either sideline or Game Day. If you make Game Day, you compete. If you make sideline, you cheer on the sidelines at games but do not compete. We will have MODIFIED 7-8-9 and VARSITY 10-11-12 Game Day teams. This means NO APP TESTING IN THE FALL! Winter season will remain JV/Varsity. There will be NO CUTS for the modified Game Day season!
**The fall and winter cheer seasons are completely separate sports. Being on a team in the fall does not guarantee a spot for the winter. The two seasons have very different scoring guidelines.
Game Day is ANOTHER competitive team! It is just a different style, and will help you be a more well-rounded cheerleader, and more prepared when it comes time to try out for a collegiate team! Game Day will be the style of competitive cheer we will do in the fall. Game Day prioritizes execution and perfection over difficulty.
Game Day scrimmages and competitions are traditionally on week day evenings. Fall ECIC's are now Game Day, and varsity will have the opportunity to compete at Sectionals in the fall with the chance to advance to States! Game Day in the fall gives varsity the chance to compete for MORE titles and maybe even compete nationally!
Game Day practices will be held during the fall season. Game Day cheerleading is more flexible and will have fewer practices. If you have wanted to try cheer but haven't been sure you can meet the time commitment, then Game Day might be for you!
The great thing about Game Day is that difficulty is not a large factor on the score sheet! Game Day emphasizes execution and precision over difficulty. Game Day will help build the foundation for winter/competitive cheer difficulty.
Band Chant
The Band Chant can be any song of choice. The Band Chant cannot incorporate any skill other than kicks and jumps but should showcase the squad’s sharp motions, high energy, and synchronization. Teams can choose to use signs, flags, and other spirit raising props to help encourage crowd response.
Situational Sideline
With a designated game situational cue – either an offensive or defensive – the squad will determine which Sideline to perform. Teams are encouraged to use spirit raising props such as signs, poms and megaphones. Skills should be minimal and simple.
Time Out Cheer
The Time Out Cheer is the best time to showcase crowd effective skills! Squads are highly encouraged to use signs, poms and flags to enhance crowd effectiveness, as well as incorporate skills. Just like you will learn at camp, the Situational Sideline can roll right into your Time Out Cheer.
Fight Song
The Fight Song is an additional element to what you do at Summer Camp for the Game Day Championship. Your Fight Song should represent the traditional Fight Song your school has always done at games (we are creating this for this year to be used forever! Be a part of HISTORY!). Your team can incorporate up to 3 consecutive 8-counts of crowd effective stunts, tumbling, and/or jumps to your band’s recorded music.
With all four elements combined, the Game Day Routine cannot exceed a 3-minute time limit.
The Game Day Championships give squads the perfect opportunity to showcase their crowd leading abilities while incorporating traditional Game Day elements and use of skills and props. Cheerleaders are meant to lead the crowd right? This division is the best way for squads to compete what you do every Friday night under the lights!
