Being a "Google Certified Educator" would be important because it looks really nice on a resume and it seems that nowadays teachers who really understand how to work certain technologies are in high demand. It also makes your job as a teacher easier in terms of assigning and collecting assignments. Further, it reduces the use of paper in the classroom.

You can get your certification at https://edutrainingcenter.withgoogle.com/certification for Google Classroom. The current cost is $10 for level 1 and $25 for level 2. There are only two levels to this certification program.
