Google Expeditions

Google Expeditions is an exploration tool that uses virtual reality. Teachers are using it because it lets students explore places and things around the world without leaving the actual class. It's like an exciting in-class field trip! There are currently over 700 available expeditions.

This could be used in the classroom to allow students to really get a feel about the places they are learning. For example, if students are learning about the Anasazi people (like my fifth grade class was last week), they can take a "field trip" to the part of Mexico that the Anasazi once ruled (if it is offered as one of the Google Expeditions) and explore the resources and landscape to better understand the tribe. This could help the students better understand as they learn about places and the people that live/d there.

One of the most compelling expeditions for me was number 7: New Wonders of the World. This was interesting to me because it offered lesson plans to match and I just think the wonders of the world are just really cool!I would like to share this interest with my students.
