The first day of the Ecohydrology training workshop was a great success! Participants gathered for insightful sessions focusing on the sustainable management of water and coastal ecosystems. The opening ceremony was led by Mrs. Saloua Sadok, General Director of the National Institute of Marine Sciences and Technologies (INSTM), Tunisia, and Mrs. Elfithri Rahmah from UNESCO. Key presentations included the UNESCO Ecohydrology DEMOSITE by Oula Amrouni, an in-depth analysis of data collection and water quality monitoring under climate change challenges by Gil Mahé and Afef Fathalli, and a study on sediment dynamics and carbon stock evolution by Ben Mustapha. Other highlights included insights into coastal studies of the Ghar El Melh lagoon and forecasting systems for Tunisia’s coasts. The day concluded with an important discussion on the impact of the 2023 heatwave on forest fire systems by Chiraz Belhaj Khedr and Alexis Sierra. A day full of learning and collaboration for the future of sustainable ecosystems
