I admit to being a hippy at heart. But I also like luxury. I want to live in an amazing, at the minimum Passivhaus, preferable an active house. I could go off and buy some land and do that with James, my husband, or a few friends, but I have a yearning for community that is more than just meeting up with friends occasionally. I believe we are social animals and should be sharing the raising of our children and the care of one another.
I am a creator. I have idea and then I collaborate with others to make that idea a reality for the benefit of many. I have a passion for all that being a mother involves, catalysed by the pregnancy of my daughter in 1997. I feel that if we get the first 7 years of a child life right, and most importantly the first 2 years, then job done. However I also believe that no matter how old your kids are you are always their parent. Because of this I have been a advocate of attachment parenting, informed choice about health care and using complementary health care primarily and nutrition for healing and allopathic when necessary, but not as the first port of call.
I love starting projects and gathering people along the way who also love doing something good in the world. I helped start up the fundraising campaign for a human milk bank for a local hospital and am the co- founder and trustee of the Baby Bank Network a charity in Bristol that redistributes used baby goods to families that cannot afford to buy new. When we tackle poverty or eventually admit that the monetary system doesn't work for everyone and we implement a Resource-Based Economy the charity will still be useful in reducing waste and supporting parents. I also started a reusable nappy project to reduce use of disposable nappies and then had an eco/ethical nursery business for 16 years.
Recently I have helped with a zero waste village project and completed a Permaculture Principles course with Shift Bristol. Both these confirmed to me that it is structural change that is needed to make eco/sustainable living easy for people. I am a founder member of the pressure group Mums Say No to GMOs. The epitome of all my passions is in creating a village where all those things are built in and normal.
I love a feeling of making a positive difference to humanity and being the change that I want to see in the world. I also love the awareness we now have of the ascension process and how this is playing out for us all. It’s exciting and when the eco-village is built, sitting around the campfire talking about all this under the stars is my goal.
I see eco-villages as important next step for us because humans need a thriving planet to live on if we are going to continue living here. We ourselves have to take responsibility for the way we live on this earth. I want to live here with people who are on my wavelength and get that they are the ones we have been waiting for and take responsibility for making it happen.
I’m a networker. If I don’t know how to do something I’ll find someone who can. I love the synchronicity of being introduced to David Saunders at exactly the right time to make this happen and love the magic that cosmic timing brings and am open to having much more of that as we progress this idea. It will make manifesting this idea into physical reality so easy and fun.
We live in Bishopston, Bristol, in a house that has probably doubled in value since we bought it in 2001. Most people would think that’s fantastic but I think it’s a sad state of affairs that housing is now so overpriced and people cannot afford decent homes to buy or rent. I don’t think buying should be the holy grail that it is. We need a new way of living where we aren’t butted up against strangers sleeping 2ft away with just a wall between us. A home is a necessity, not a privilege for those with money.
What I am looking forward to when I live in the Eco-village
