Our vision

A community with its foundations in permaculture principles, where as far as possible, one element’s outputs are another's inputs. To create a way of living that works for all.

The fundamentals of the village are about creating a living and working community which is self sufficient for energy and, as much as possible, food and water. Leaving a positive impact on the planet; providing an opportunity for community members to contribute in a way that inspires them and suits their skills and the needs of the community.

The concepts we are talking about have all been tried somewhere in the world and many of the communities have been in existence for decades. They tend to be somewhere quiet and off grid. There are many eco villages around the world, see https://ecovillage.org however there is only one, Findhorn, in the UK. We want to bring the best parts of existing ecovillages and merge that with the technologies of the present to create an exemplar for the new earth we are creating.

Our motivation

We want to create and be part of a community of broadly like-minded, heart centred, people. Not just for ourselves but as a marker for what is possible when we collaborate and are being the change we want to see in the world; building the future we want for our children and their children to come.

Our values

What are our shared values? We have summarised them here to be transparent in our thinking about the things we believe are important as the basis of the community we create.

Permaculture is a global movement of individuals, groups and networks working to create the world we want. Popularly seen as a form of organic gardening, permaculture could be better described as a design system for resilient living and land use based on universal ethics and ecological design principles. Although the primary focus of permaculture has been the redesign of gardening, farming, animal husbandry and forestry, the same ethics and principles apply to design of buildings, tools and technology as well as community building.
