Three Ruddy Turnstones on the rocks watch the tidal flow .
They seem to be observing something in the water.
Peering in different directions noticing some change.
The lively character of the Ruddy Turnstone comes through the images.
The bird observes me, observing him, and we connect for a brief second.
He turned away left and continued his hunt for food.
I saw an accompanying small bird. I carefully identified the Palmated Sanderling researching Audubon.org
The tiny Palmated Sanderling makes the 1,900 mile plus trip form the arctic circle to Long Island.
The bird is so small I was not sure I got a shot it until it clears the sea kelp rubbish on the beach.
As with all bird shoots they subjects have wings and take off.
I love the way the Sanderlings wings are positioned here for take off.
It takes great determination navigate and fly yearly to migrate.
