2011 - St. Paul's UCC Fleetwood envisioned a safe place for children. During their inaugural cross-cultural mission trip, they learned of children forced to live in and around the market. In partnership with the EP Church of Ghana, the children of St. Paul's UCC, Fleetwood Sunday Schools raised funds to build the dormitory at Nenyo Haborbor.
The dormitory block was dedicated in 2014 as a space to home about 20 children. St. Paul's UCC Fleetwood children continued their work, hosting annual Sleep-A-Thons to raise funds that purchased mattresses and bedding.
The EP Church continued its support for programming and the mission thrived under the guidance of Rev. Eric Glee including scholarships, after-school programming, job skills training, and an apprenticeship program. By 2018 youth were apprenticing throughout Ho learning trade skills and reuniting with their families. An apartment was built onsite and a house mother was hired to live and work at the mission.
By 2021 the dormitory which was once overflowing with children in need of shelter was housing only a few children as the programs were successful at reuniting and supporting children as they returned to live with their families. The house mother was opening a neighborhood store at the edge of the property where the children could sell produce and eggs from their chickens to further support the mission, and the house mother is now attending college to develop her ability to manage and lead this program.
