Step inside MUŻA, Malta’s National Community Art Museum, and explore art from the 1400s right up to today. Paintings, sculptures, furniture, silver, and objects are organised in four big story themes: Mediterranean, Europe, Empire, and The Artist.
As you move through the old Auberge d’Italie building, you’ll see how Malta’s art was shaped by the Knights of St John, the British Empire, the Church, and modern independence. Interactive displays, videos, and contemporary works are mixed with old masters, so it feels more like a creative story than a “quiet” museum.
Great for students: you can pick a favourite artwork, sketch it, or link it to history, culture, or other subjects you’ve studied in class. MUŻA literally means “inspiration” in Maltese—so the goal is that you leave with new ideas, not just photos.
