Fruitfulness and Sustainability
What are these for? On the Way is a journey. We are setting out on the way, trusting that together we can seek and discern the call of the Holy Spirit to our churches in Cornwall. A journey needs a destination. While we don’t know exactly what it will look like, we do need a clear way to know when we have arrived. To describe this end point, we are using two words: fruitful and sustainable. Fruitful relates to the outcomes of the life, mission and ministry of a church, group of churches or Deanery. Sustainable concerns the things churches - or groups of churches - will need to pay attention to and have in place in order to be fruitful....read the full text here.
Draft vision and values
Bishop Hugh at the launch of OtW in East Wivelshire stated We cannot go on as we are - being unfruitful and unsustainable....read the full text here.
East Wivelshire Proposal
This proposal is led by prayer and through those prayers some key points have arisen. Namely that we must break from the chains of our past and stop “hankering after an imagined past”. There is a strong call to Regroup to Advance, from that position we have an opportunity to consolidate our resources and energy, as well as reinvigorate our prayer life and discipleship. Then we can push back out in the coming decade into the Deanery to grow disciples and discover God’s Kingdom in new places. The vision does require new ways of working and thinking, this does not simply replace what we already have and there is hard work ahead.....the proposal is being re-written to reflect comments received. It will be posted here soon.
