After the global destabilization caused by the event known as The Secret Pact, Maxwell Lord recognized what few were willing to admit: the heroic world, once sustained by trust and autonomy, had become fractured by secrecy, manipulation, and irreversible consequences.

Determined to prevent further collapse, the businessman began drafting a new kind of initiativ one that would operate not in the shadows of independence, but under global structure and legitimacy. His vision was clear: a worldwide network of sanctioned heroes, acting across borders with political support, embassies, and official representatives in multiple nations. Maxwell’s original proposal was to expand the Justice League into a fully global institution.

Seeking validation, he submitted the project for analysis to Martian Manhunter, trusting his perspective as both an outsider and a founding pillar of the heroic community. However, before the initiative could move forward, Maxwell received a formal legal warning: the use of the name “Justice League” would result in immediate legal action, not only from the League itself but also from corporate entities that held the rights to the name. What was meant to be an expansion was now forced to become something entirely new.

With the unexpected assistance of Booster Gold, Maxwell redefined the identity of his project. No longer bound to legacy, he chose a name that embodied its true purpose global presence, authority, and protection. And so, the initiative was reborn as The Global Guardians: a legally recognized, internationally structured team designed to restore order where trust once failed, and to redefine what it truly means to protect the world.

The Invitation across the globe

Maxwell Lord personally selected individuals from across the globe, choosing each one for their unique abilities and for the impact of their actions within their own countries, making them the ideal representatives of a new, structured heroic era.

From Canada, Booster Gold joined the initiative, while Blue Beetle represented Germany. In India, Celsius was recruited, alongside Red Tornado from Poland and Enlogated Man from Denmark, each bringing a distinct balance of power, intellect, and control.
Across Asia, Emily Sung represented South Korea, while Doctor Light stood for Japan, and The Atom for China, reinforcing the scientific and strategic core of the team. In Europe, Crimson Fox from France and Bloodwynd from Spain added precision and mysticism, while Guy Gardner represented Ireland with unmatched willpower.
In Latin America, Firestorm became Mexico’s representative, joined by Fire from Brazil and Runaway from Colombia, while Vibe stood for Puerto Rico. From Norway, Ice completed the elemental contrast within the team.
Meanwhile, Rocket Red represented Russia, Freedom Beast stood for South Africa, Herald represented Italy, and Animal Man answered from Australia, each reinforcing the global scale of Maxwell Lord’s vision.

Shortly after their formation, the Global Guardians faced Peraxxus, an imperialist alien conqueror who sought to transform Earth into a metallic extension of his empire. Deploying massive conversion engines across the planet, he began turning entire regions into lifeless mechanized territory.

Under the coordination of Maxwell Lord, the team executed a synchronized global response, splitting efforts between direct combat against Peraxxus and the shutdown of his transformation systems. The large-scale operation culminated in his defeat and the complete neutralization of his technology, preventing the planetary conversion.

Following the mission’s success, the United Nations officially recognized and legalized the Global Guardians, establishing them as an international force and solidifying Maxwell Lord’s vision of a globally structured superhero team.

In Canada, Booster Gold led the intervention against Chronos, who had stolen experimental temporal tech and begun freezing entire sections of Vancouver in looping time fractures. Civilians were trapped reliving the same moments endlessly until Booster used his own future tech to destabilize Chronos’ field and restore the timeline.
In Germany, Blue Beetle uncovered a resurgence of Baron Blitzkrieg, who had taken control of a paramilitary faction aiming to reestablish metahuman supremacy. Using the Scarab’s adaptability, Kord dismantled the group’s tech infrastructure and exposed their operations to the global stage.
In India, Celsius faced Ravan and his cult, who were attempting to trigger a controlled cataclysm through geothermal manipulation beneath sacred sites. Celsius counterbalanced the thermal instability, preventing a chain reaction that would have devastated entire regions.
In Poland, Red Tornado intercepted The Construct, a rogue artificial intelligence that had taken control of industrial wind systems to weaponize atmospheric pressure. Tornado neutralized the network by overriding its control through direct integration.
