Early Life
Dominic Mndawe was an investigative journalist who became one of the many victims of the Quracian regime established in Buredinia—far removed from the system once promoted by General Maksai in Zambesi. Unlike the latter, which enforced segregation between social castes and redirected resources toward figures like Beatriz Zazzala and Qurac, Dominic sought to expose the truth behind the growing dictatorship.
For months, he gathered photographic evidence to reveal to the world the reality of Buredinia. During one such investigation, while documenting an act of police violence against civilians driven by racial hatred, he was discovered and captured by authorities.
Instead of being formally detained, Dominic was taken to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro, a location secretly used as a slaughterhouse to dispose of bodies. However, by violating that sacred ground, the officers awakened a dormant, ancient force. A massive red gorilla emerged, annihilating the entire police squad before vanishing into the forest, leaving their remains scattered.
Dominic, who had witnessed everything, managed to escape and sought refuge at the mountain’s peak. He remained isolated for days, fearing the creature’s return. Yet, unwilling to die forgotten like those who brought him there, he chose to confront his fate.

As he descended the mountain, weakened and alone, Dominic encountered the entity once again. This time, he did not fear it—he met its gaze. He came to understand its name: Dujba, and realized he was meant to follow it.
The mystical primate led him to its cave, where, atop a tower of bones, Dominic was presented with an animalistic and mystical helmet. Accepting the offering, he donned it—and from that moment forward, he ceased to be merely human.
Transformed, Dominic gained the ability to understand every animal and to manipulate the Red itself through ancestral magic. This power allowed him to fuse multiple animals into sacred chimeras of immense strength and purpose.
From that rebirth, he proclaimed himself Freedom Beast, vowing not only to embody the raw force of nature, but to fight for the freedom of his people—and all those oppressed under tyranny.

After fully embracing his role as Freedom Beast, Dominic Mndawe extended his crusade beyond Buredinia, striking at the roots of human exploitation across Africa. His most decisive act came in Zimbabwe, where he dismantled a vast human trafficking network that had operated for years under the shadow of corruption and racial supremacy.
At the center of this operation stood the Harkness Family—a powerful and deeply entrenched organization that had built an empire on the capture, trade, and suffering of vulnerable populations. Moving with precision and unrelenting force, Freedom Beast infiltrated their operations, tore through their infrastructure, and brought their entire network crashing down, effectively sinking their influence and ending their control over the region.
The scale and impact of this action reverberated globally.
It drew the direct attention of Maxwell Lord, who recognized not only the magnitude of what had been accomplished, but the method behind it—decisive, targeted, and impossible to ignore. Seeing in Dominic a force capable of reshaping the balance of power on a global level, Lord chose to intervene personally.
