Dear Parents/Families,
I hope this letter finds you well. I wanted to inform you about the changes to the teaching schedule for Sunrise and Summit this 2023-2024 school year that affect our art classes.
As you may know, I've been teaching art at both Sunrise Elementary School and Summit Elementary school with a 50/50 time split. Our music teachers have had the same schedule. To reduce commuting and hopefully provide more consistency for our students, we will be adjusting the split schedule this year.
This year, here's how the new schedule will look:
- Mondays and Tuesdays: Art classes at Sunrise Elementary School (ALL DAY!)
- Wednesdays: I'll be alternating between teaching at the two buildings based on the CCSD calendar (ALL DAY!).
- Thursdays and Fridays: I'll be at Summit Elementary School, leading art classes (ALL DAY!).
I want to assure you that we have had great discussions in our scheduling committees about how to try to ensure the highest quality experiences for your children. Both schools will continue to work closely together to make sure everything runs smoothly. I am the only art teacher at both buildings so some flexibility is required. We are also excited to invite a new music teacher to share this experience with me, Brianna Mauricio-Perez (Ms. Mauricio/Ms. M), to complete our Fine Arts team!
If you have any questions or concerns about this new arrangement, please don't hesitate to reach out to me.
Thank you for your understanding and endless support. Let's have another AMAZING year in art!
Color Outside the Lines,
Alison Smith (art)
