My name is Alison Smith. I grew up in Harford County, Maryland (north of Baltimore). After graduating as an International Baccalaureate in High School, I moved to Amherst, MA to attend college at Hampshire College. While there for my BA in Education Policy, I was able to complete my AA in Political Science and get licensed in Early Childhood Education. At Hampshire, I was able to take a lot of interesting classes like Outdoor Teaching & Leadership, Artivism, and Film Seminar. The entire time I was in school, art was a fun escape for me from the stress of becoming an adult.
In the spring of 2021, I graduated college and moved to Denver, CO with my dog (Violet) for my first teaching position. I taught in Cherry Creek Public Schools at Ponderosa as a first-grade teacher before deciding to make a shift to a role in an elementary art classroom.
Outside of teaching, my hobbies are playing soccer, renovating my condo in Denver, spending time with my dog, and exploring the city and state!
I am so excited to be a part of the Summit and Sunrise learning communities this year! I have been working hard this summer to get organized and prepare some exciting art curriculum for the students.
I am looking forward to getting to know you!
Love,
Miss Smith (summer 2022)
