The Folk media as traditional forms of communication include songs, theatre, drama, oral poetry, and proverbs among others. They promote local knowledge and remain an integral part of the socio-cultural, religious, and political views of communities.
Although we are in an era of advanced communication technologies, folk media forms play an essential role in the daily lives of rural communities. Hence folk media was taken as an effective communication tool for dissemination of awareness messages on STI, HIV/AIDS, Condom Promotion and Stigma and Discrimination among the rural mass of Omalur Block. The folk media team inform the date and locations of the HIV testing camps.

Step-1 Fixing up of strategic location for folk activity and mobile camps in consultation with villagers.

As Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) methodology was used to work out the route map, which helped to identify correct locations for the performance.
