I believe students are entitled to all tools that are able to further their growth as leaders, individuals, and members of a community. To effectively learn, students should be able to explore all possibilities on ways they can grow and express themselves. In doing so, they expand their mindsets of expression and how it can benefit themselves and others. I believe in different forms of learning. It is essential to make sure each is either explained, shown, or written. I will demonstrate, work and collaborate alongside students, thus ensuring they are capable of achievable expectations.
In terms of projects, I believe students should be able to prioritize the value in ‘process over product’. Opposed to solely focusing on the completion of their work, students should delve into their own personal interests and abilities through modes of exploration, research, creativity, and curiosity. I believe all students have the necessary capabilities to learn and create. Despite the various differences and abilities of each student, they all will be provided the tools to succeed. I believe students should be able to acknowledge their strengths and struggles, while understanding the vitality in working together. Focusing on an environment that priorities seeing oneself and others clearer is a priority of mine.
I will be the teacher that can motivate and promote self-confidence. I believe that each student deserves the right to feel safe, comfortable to express and experiment, and welcomed overall. I believe students, in my classroom, will feel as if the sky is not the limit because they will know that anything is possible if you can put your mind, body, and soul into it.
I will be the teacher that inspires students to empower themselves and others. By having faith, compassion, and a desire to learn and love, will not only help them grow into successful adults, but into the true meaning of being human. Their flaws are not weaknesses, but their strengths. By incorporating a growth mindset, students can think of mistakes as mere lessons because there is no eraser too small.
