LETRS is a professional development course of study for instructors of reading, spelling and related language skills. It provides the knowledge and tools that teachers can use with any good reading program. It provides in depth knowledge based on the most current research regarding what, when and how language skills need to be taught, ways to asses student language development for prevention and intervention, guidance on how to plan and balance word recognition and comprehension instruction, and information on how to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all students.
LETRS is technical assistance offered by the VDOE to support persons fulfilling the role of dyslexia advisor to satisfy a portion of the knowledge base required by this role per legislation.
