My name is Dylan Grebler. I am a Junior Math Secondary Education Major. Some fun things about me are that I am a third-degree black belt in Taekwondo. I am an NJ and nationally certified EMT. At TCNJ, I am an ambassador for the college, I am the president of TCNJ EMS, I am a brother of Alpha Epsilon Pi, and I am a community advisor for Centennial Hall. My path towards education was not linear. It has had and will have many windy turns. I came to TCNJ as a Public Health major, determined to go to medical school. After 2 semesters of pre-med studies, I realized that 11 years of schooling was not in my future. I still really enjoyed the sciences and was still very interested in medicine. I decided to attempt to switch my mentality towards a pre-physician assistant track. However, just one semester later, I came to the realization that the medical track may not be for me, as the time that it would take for me to complete a program did not align with where I saw myself in 5 years. I began thinking about some of my other passions. This is when I was brought back to martial arts. I had taught children from age 3 to adults in their 60s. I realized that teaching was also a true passion of mine. When thinking about what area I was interested in teaching, I decided it my be in my best interest not to pursue a natural science as I was getting burnt out from all the biology and chemistry classes. I had always excelled at mathematics, and I was interested in the subject. I decided to pursue a Math Secondary Education degree and have been on this track for the past 2 semesters. I hope as I continue to grow as an educator, I value that not all students are going to be as engaged in school as we as educators desire, and I will make it my goal to accommodate these students so they are as successful as they can be in my classroom.Â
