Emergency Preparedness / 2022 / April
April 2022 Message
Dear Stake,
Every six months we have the wonderful opportunity to hear from our prophets and church leaders. Each General Conference brings a wide variety of gospel topics. Woven through many of the general authorities' talks are always reminders to prepare -- both temporally and spiritually.
As you listen to General Conference this April, listen for advice on how to prepare temporally for challenges that may affect your physical well-being. Also, listen for messages on how to prepare spiritually, in order to be resilient and fortified against unseen challenges.
Last conference, President Nelson reminded us that, “when your spiritual foundation is built solidly upon Jesus Christ, you have no need to fear. As you are true to your covenants made in the temple, you will be strengthened by His power. Then, when spiritual earthquakes occur, you will be able to stand strong because your spiritual foundation is solid and immovable.” Have you had the opportunity to attend the temple since then, or otherwise work on preparing your spiritual foundation? Whether the answer is yes or no, each new day is a new chance to heed our prophet's counsel.
Past General Conference talks have advised church members to grow gardens, avoid debt, pay tithing, and focus on home-centered gospel study. These are all ways to prepare for and fortify against temporal emergencies. Even though we've heard these messages so many times, we will always need to be reminded and encouraged to continue working on these things.
We hope you are able to listen to General Conference this year, and listen for new messages on emergency preparedness. If you are unable to listen live, the talks will be available online and in the Liahona magazine. We testify that as we listen to and follow the counsel of the living prophet, we will each be able to become prepared for whatever life may bring us.
Sincerely,
Holly & Chris Earls
